Intuition – Developing Your Intuition

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

I had no idea I was intuitive, until in a dance class one day, the teacher said to me ‘You are the most intuitive member of this class’.  I was quite shocked, it was something I’d never thought about.  I knew that my mother was considered very intuitive, but this was made light of.  My (then) husband could sniff the wind to find an address – pretty impressive I thought. My own intuition – I’d never even considered it.

So intuition has crept up on me so to speak and little by little more and more each day, I trust what it has to tell me. I would counsel you to do the same, listening to the hunch, the feeling, the knowing, the image; everyone has their own way to connect with their intuition.  I love the idea of the still small voice. My mother says that if she doesn’t listen to that voice (which is often drowned out by much louder voices) things don’t turn out well for her.

I love to give email tarot readings to people, to help them on their way with issues and problems. Also, in creating this site, I want to encourage other people to develop their own innate skills, to learn to trust themselves and their intuitive powers. Otherwise other people, peer pressure, the media, religion, dogma and all those other outside authorities, hold the guiding reins of our lives.

So here’s a simple exercise.

I would like you to breathe deep as you look at this picture of the tarot card, The Star and see what impressions come to you. These impressions may come to you in the form of feelings, words, images, symbols or as a knowing. Write down what you receive. This will only take you a few minutes.  You can post your impressions as a comment if you like. There are no wrong or right answers, only deeper levels of understanding.

I will do the same and post my impressions on the Intuitive Impressions page (see bar at top of page). Take a look at mine too, if you like.

Have fun developing your intuition……

Love And Relationship Advice

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

Why do people seek love and relationship advice from the Tarot?

The Tarot is for many, including me, an impartial source of comfort, insight and wisdom. This impartiality is important, for often family members and friends can offer us advice, but it is coloured by their perception of our situation. Their well meaning words can seem annoying or down right interfering, even if offered with the best will in the world.

The Tarot gives love and relationship advice and simple and profound insight into this complicated area of life.

Love and relationship issues can sometimes overwhelm us with conflicting emotions. At such times, its difficult to keep our heads above water, as we struggle with desires, needs and expectations. Its sometimes impossible to see clearly – wondering how the other person is feeling about us, whether what we are feeling is delusional, where the relationship is going?

Synchronicity And The Tarot

Maybe it seems arbitrary and illogical to you, that a pack of cards can give love and relationship advice? Yet the Tarot works within the world of synchronicity, where nothing happens just ‘by chance’ and all things are connected.

This is especially true in the area of love and relationships, where seeming ‘coincidences’  happen all the time - I have experienced this to be very true in my life. How about you?

The Language Of The Tarot

When you ask for the advice of the Tarot, the symbols on the cards and the way that they are arranged in the Tarot Spread, are messages to you from your Higher Self (The part of you that is infinite, wise and all-knowing). The cards deliver the messages to you, in the Tarot’s symbolic language of pictures. The Tarot reader interprets these symbols into everyday words that you can understand.

As well as giving clear insight and wisdom, the Tarot offers guidance as to the best way forward in any given situation. It is then up to the querent (the person asking for the reading) as to what they then do, with the advice they have been given.

Email Tarot Readings

In my own readings I use the Rider Waite Tarot for a general reading and to answer specific questions. Such as: ‘What is he feeling towards me now?’ ‘What will be the outcome of this situation?’  ‘Will he come back to me?’ etc.  I then use Angel, Fairy and Animal cards, for healing and affirmations.

I’m writing here about a simple, inexpensive way of developing your psychic abilities. Everyone has these abilities at birth, there is nothing special or mysterious about them. However, culture, expectation and social conditioning, have for the most part robbed people of these natural skills.

So, if you are interested in regaining a helpful part of yourself, here is something you can use, to begin to work your psychic muscles (figuratively speaking of course)

To help you to develop your psychic skills, you can simply and easily make yourself a Sand Disk. This is a low cost alternative to a crystal ball. You can then develop your psychic skills at home, any time you wish.  This does take practice.

How A Sand Disk Works

Looking at a Sand Disk is a bit like staring into a crystal ball or looking at tea or coffee grounds.  As you look at the random patterns in the sand, they gradually take on recognizeable forms. With practice, the pictures gain clarity and whole scenes and landscapes can be discerned. Enlightening information can be obtained using this method. This art is called scrying.

Make a habit of regular practice and you will find that your ability gradually improves. The use of ritual is down to personal preference.  If it helps you to centre, concentrate and dedicate your practice to a higher power, then by all means use some sort of ritual, to begin and end you practice sessions.

In a semi dark room, practice gazing not staring at the Sand Disk, light a few candles if you wish, or have a small lamp alight in a corner. Practice looking at the disc for about 15 minutes to start with and gradually increase the length of your sessions, by five minutes each time. Breathing deeply, try not to blink too much, see what appears on the surface of the disc.

After a few attempts you will see cloud covering the surface of the disc and then images will appear through the cloud. You can ask specific questions and you will receive answers in picture form. I must repeat this does take practice, don’t be put off if you don’t see anything for a few sessions.

How To Make The Sand Disk

To make a Sand Disc, simply draw a circle about the size of a dinner plate onto a piece of thick card. Spread glue over the surface of the circle and then sprinkle sand over the glue. Remove any excess sand by shaking. Its that simple! There you have a Sand Disc. You will see that the sand has made beautiful, haphazard patterns, perfect for scrying.

Asking The Tarot Your Question

Posted by Gillian on 7 Feb 2010   |   0 comment   |   Filed in using the Tarot to answer your questions

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

When you ask the Tarot a question, you are putting your trust in Divine Guidance and asking Great Spirit, Higher Self, God (whatever the words are that you feel comfortable with) to throw light upon the challenges you are facing. You are sending your thoughts out into the ethers in the trust that they will be answered.

We are all connected and in truth there is no separation and even time is an illusion. Ask your question in the knowledge that what you are doing is sacred.

Breathe deeply and ask your mind to phrase your question in the best way possible. Still your thoughts, quiet your emotions and ask your question from a deep place of peace and trust within yourself.

Often the area of love and relationships causes suffering and dilemma, as we wrestle with thoughts and feelings, tossed around in a sea of emotion, seemingly out of control. Yet, paradoxically, this is an area of life that has huge potential for our learning our growth.

When you receive an answer from the Tarot, know that your question has been answered by The Universe. The Tarot reader acts as an intermediary, using intuition and experience, to interpret the symbolic language for you.

The cards at the top of this post are from the Rider Waite Pack laid out in Egyptian Spread. I use these to answer your questions.

Card 1 on the bottom left, signifies the situation/problem at present.

Card 2 on the top right, signifies the cause of the situation/problem

Card 3 on the top left, signifies a point of interest/something to consider

Card 4 on the bottom right, signifies advice/something to consider

Card 5 at the top signifies, the outcome of the situation

I think its true when its said that you teach what you most want to learn.

I had an inspiration last night – to awaken your intuition, dear reader as well as mine, with a simple exercise to do right now. My last post was about developing ones intuition and I suggested an exercise, but I realize how easy it is to put something off till tomorrow and not ever get round to doing  it.

What I would like you to do, is bring up Notepad on one side of your screen and have the picture of the Queen of Cups on the other side of your screen.

Breathe deeply as you look at the picture and note down any impressions that come to you. Let the impressions flow, don’t edit them.  You may hear some words, see things move in the picture, have a feeling about the card or ideas may come to you. Whatever way your intuition speaks to you is the right way for you.

Do that right now.  Then leave me a comment to let me know how you got on. I think you will find this to be a very interesting and enlightening exercise and it will only take a few moments of your time.

I’m going to do this too, I will leave my impressions on a separate page. You can access them by clicking where it says ‘Intuitive Impressions’ on the black bar right at the top of the page.  I don’t want to influence you with my ideas, so don’t be tempted to look until you have done the exercise yourself.

How To Develop Your Intuition

Posted by Gillian on 3 Feb 2010   |   0 comment   |   Filed in Steps you can take to help you develop your intuition

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

Everyone is intuitive, in some this facility is fully developed, in others its hardly functioning, like a muscle that has atrophied through lack of use.

Even though some people appear to be naturally gifted, everyone can learn to develop their intuition.  Like everything else in life, all it takes is practise

Are you aware of your intuition and how it speaks to you?  Take a minute to think before answering.

Does it speak to you through feelings, bodily sensations, ‘ knowing’, or maybe a combination of all these things?

Its important to be quiet enough to listen to your intuition.  Meditation helps to still the mind, so that you can hear what the still small voice has to say to you.

Simple Steps To Help You Develop Your Intuition

Devote a period of time on a regular basis to developing your intuition. This doesn’t have to be a very long period, just a regular practice.

1)  Sit comfortably somewhere that you won’t be disturbed and concentrate your mind on your breath – watch it moving in and out of your body. Relax more and more each time you breathe out.  Letting thoughts come and go, not struggling just being with your breath.

2)  Ask your intuition a question and wait quietly to see or feel what answer comes to you.  Begin with a simple question, something that it will be easy for you to act upon or verify. Nothing much may seem to happen, or the answer may seem vague.  This is fine.

3)  Keep a journal of these sessions; write down what you asked, the answer you received and how the intuitive impression came to you. By this I mean; does it come through a sound, a sight, a colour, a feeling, a knowing etc.  It doesn’t matter how vague the answer appears to be, because with practice the impressions will become stronger.

4)  Alternatively or additionally if you have a pack of Tarot Cards, ask your question and then pick a card from the pack. What does the card say to you?  What does it mean to you?  Do the colours and images appear to move and change?  Whatever impressions come to you from the cards, write them down, don’t edit the feelings and images you receive, just let the impressions flow.

5)  Below what you have written, leave a space, so that you can note down later what happened to you in your daily life. For example, you asked your intuition   ‘Should I contact Mary today’ and the response was ‘yes’ and you contacted Mary as a result.  Note down what happened and how you felt about what happened, as a result of listening to and acting upon your intuition.

6)  Thank your intuition for the guidance and wisdom it has imparted to you. Return to the room, your bodily sensations and your daily life.

Its through acting on these promptings and noticing the results, that you will begin to trust your intuition to guide you in the decisions that you have to make, every day of your life.

As Albert Einstein once said, Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

The Tarot And The River Of Life

Posted by Gillian on 30 Jan 2010   |   0 comment   |   Filed in The Tarot and the river of life

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

In explaining how a tarot reading works and why a reading can be so helpful, I sometimes use the analogy or the river of life.

Remember the old adage; ‘Row row row your boat gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream’.

A Tarot Reading can be likened to a snapshot, that shows you exactly where you are on the river of your life.  The cards indicate your progress along the river; how far you have come, how the current is flowing, how near the bank you are and how fast or slow you are paddling.  The cards also indicate the conditions you have already passed through and give you a glimpse of the obstacles yet to come.

The river goes on till it reaches the ocean, there is no stopping it.  There will be quiet times when you can relax, watch the stars and paddle your feet over the side. There will be other times when the current is strong and your strength very weak and you feel that you can’t keep afloat.

The Tarot allows you to see things just beyond the next bend in the river. It can show you how to reposition yourself in the water’s flow and gives you the option to change the length of your stroke, to better be able to deal with whatever lies ahead.  It also allows you to see the waters you have gone through in a new light, conserve your strength when necessary and celebrate the whole journey and flow that is life itself.

The Process Of Giving A Reading

Posted by Gillian on 25 Jan 2010   |   0 comment   |   Filed in The process I use to give a Tarot Reading

Thanks so much for visiting this site again.

For me there is a very definite process involved in giving a reading and this process has three separate stages.

1) Tuning In

It is of the utmost importance to be in the right space within myself to give a Tarot Reading.  I have a beautiful  room where I meditate to become quiet and centred. I ask for help from Great Spirit and then concentrate my mind and energies upon the person who has requested a reading from me.

2)  Dealing The Cards

I have several different packs of cards and use whichever pack I feel drawn to.  I often use a selection of  packs to give an email reading and will lay the spreads out one on top of the other, separating each spread with a piece of silk.

I use a number of different spreads in my email tarot readings: I like to start by giving a general spread with the Rider Waite Tarot and then pick out other cards from my Angel, Fairy, Egyptian and Animal Packs.  I use a five card spread, to answer a specific question and find this extremely accurate.

3)  Interpretation

The Tarot Cards speak a symbolic language that is understood by the intuition. My logical mind gathers and sorts the intuitive information into concepts, which are then converted into another symbolic language – that of words, to be communicated in writing to the person asking for the Tarot Reading.

Tarot Readings – How They Work

Tarot Cards

Tarot Cards

To the logical mind it doesn’t make any sense at all, that a Tarot Reading done at a distance, for a person who I will never ever meet, could possibly have any veracity or merit to it at all.

To the mystical mind, to the right brain that knows that all things are connected, of course an Email Tarot Reading is going to be spot on, full of wisdom and very helpful for the person who requested it.

Everything in the Universe is connected, each human connected up one to another, each influencing one another, every moment of the time .

When I give a reading I’m made very much aware of this connection. The pictures on the Tarot Cards are like symbols picked out of the ethers, messages from one mind to another, to be deciphered and communicated from one to another for guidance.

There are some fascinating scientific studies in the field of Quantum Physics, coming to light nowadays.  These show that when two subatomic particles are separated even by huge distances, there is instant communication between them.  Tarot, Telepathy and other such non physical forms of  communication fit easily into the Quantum view of the world we live in.
