Developing Intuition – Tarot And Creativity

Intuition and Creativity – there is something magical about them, they never cease to amaze and delight me. I love to develop and use these faculties within myself and encourage others to develop and use them too.

Developing Intuition -Tarot

When I first began to learn Tarot, I memorized the meanings of the cards by heart and then stuck rigidly to these meanings, as I interpreted the cards. I also used to adhere to two specific layouts, each time I did a reading (either the Celtic Cross or the Egyptian Five Card Spread).   Many many readings later, with increased confidence, the rigidly defined meanings and spreads have slipped into the background, to be replaced by spontaneous interpretation.  Often I dispense with the cards altogether. Sometimes, I will just flip one card, sometimes a few cards – whatever feels right at the time. In my case, it is experience that has given me the confidence to be flexible, spontaneous and trust my intuition.

Developing Intuition – Creativity

Similarly, when I began to compose music, I wrote each note down separately, checking and rechecking that the music sounded OK as I went along. It was a tedious and laborious process. Many songs and much music later, I now improvise a melody and layer other melodies on top of the first one. Still, every time, I am delighted and surprised  how this method works and that a piece of music seems to emerge, almost of its own volition, through this improvisational process.

A Developing Intuition Exercise For You To Do

With this in mind, I invite you to look at The Empress Card below and let your intuition guide you. Let the Empress teach you about your own creativity and show you how best to develop and use it. Ask her to show/teach/speak to you now, as you slow your breathing, concentrate and absorb the meaning of the card.  Jot down what comes to you, so that you can refer to it later. I will write my ideas down on the Impressions page, if you want to look at what I have written, please wait until you have done this exercise yourself.  I hope that you will learn something new.

I share here a few things that are helping me to develop my intuition.

Developing Intuition

1) Sitting in a particular place on a daily basis to meditate. I practice a number of different meditations, one of which concentrates on activating and balancing the Chakras.

2) Visualizing my Pineal Gland bathed in Violet Light and seeing Golden Light streaming down into it to awaken it. The Pineal Gland is shaped rather like a pine cone, so I imagine the shape and sense it coming to life.

Pineal Pituitarty Glands1 300x297 Developing Intuition Practice and Ritual

3) Using a mental ritual – I travel in my imagination to a sacred spot to receive intuitive impressions. When I have received the impressions and written them down, I return in my imagination, to my usual surroundings and to normal waking consciousness.

4) Doing the above practices on a regular basis. I believe it is the repetition and reinforcement that trains the brain.

5) Receiving feedback about the accuracy of the Intuitive Impressions.  This is very important, as it gives me confidence that I am not just making things up.

I find that developing intuition is very compelling, its like a journey into a very interesting and beautiful country. The practice and ritual really seem to help.

I hope you will find some of the above ideas useful on your own journey. You could play with the ideas and improvise to find the way that suits you.  Everyone is unique.

According to my sister Gemini is prominent in my Astrological Chart.  One of the ways this manifests in my life is that I am always doing  things differently, changing my ideas and changing things around……so as of yesterday May 21 since I wrote this post I changed the title of my site yet again…..to Intuitive and Email Tarot Reading…….not to confuse anyone least of all myself!!

The name of this site is changing from Email Tarot Reading to Intuitive Readings by Gillian, for two reasons:

1) I  now rely more on my intuitive impressions rather than on the Tarot Cards in my readings.

 2) I am giving phone readings as well as email readings from this site.

Also, I like change and enjoy changing things around, so the name of the site is a good place to start.

 Pineal Gland Activation Meditation

The Pineal Gland is the part of the brain linked to the Third Eye, which controls intuition/psychic ability/inner sight. If you would like to find out more about the Pineal Gland, here is a link to a page that gives comprehensive information on the Pineal Gland and its function.

I have been doing daily meditations to activate my Pineal Gland since November and this practice has made a considerable difference to my intuitive abilities.  As a result ‘Intuitive Readings By Gillian’ seems the more appropriate title to use now.

Heirophant001 576x1024 The Hierophant Developing Your Intuition

Anyone can learn to give tarot readings, it is merely a matter of memorizing the meaning of the cards. The more highly developed your intuition, the more insightful and accurate your readings will be.

If you want to develop your intuition – ‘Ask and you will be given to you’. The very act of asking for this facility to develop within yourself, will open the door for you. Practice will bring your gift to fruition.

I feel passionate about encouraging others to develop and use their own intuition.  That’s why I write so much about it in this blog.  In my opinion, many of us and I speak most definitely for myself here, have been brought up in a culture, that has stunted the development of their innate intuitive guidance system.  Thank goodness, the tide is turning now, as more and more people become aware of and access their intuitive faculties.

“Listen to your inner voice, it is the most important guide for you on this planet.” – Guruji

Intuition Exercise Focusing On The Hierophant Card

Breathe slowly and deeply until you feel relaxed.  Imagine that you have roots growing down from your feet into the ground beneath you.  You feel centred, firm and strong.  Look at this card, let it speak directly to you.  Disregard anything you have read about this card in books, or that others have told you.

Questions

What stands out about the card to you?

What is the message from the card?

What is the figure saying to you?

How does the card make you feel?

Anything else you notice or pick up?

If you would like to share what you receive, write it down in the comments box below.  I am going to do this exercise right now and I will write what I receive on the Impressions Page.  Don’t look at my ideas, or any one else’s ideas, till you have done the exercise for yourself.  There is no right or wrong.

Bring your attention fully back into normal waking consciousness, before you go about the rest of your day.

Intuition cat people card0011 166x300 Developing Intuition Gaining Confidence

Having an intuitive feeling/impression about something is one thing,  acting on it is another. Acting upon the promptings of inner guidance, brings your intuition out into the material world, where you can judge its veracity, by the results you receive. You are not going to be right all of the time, you will learn from your mistakes, as much as from your successes. Giving Tarot Readings and receiving feedback is one very good way to gain confidence in your abilites.

Developing Intuition – Three Simple Exercises

Practice these exercises with a friend. Their feedback will help you to trust your intuition and build confidence in your own abilities. Try not to judge, it doesn’t matter whether you are right or wrong.

First of all ground yourself – breathe deeply till you feel relaxed, then imagine that you are growing roots out and down from your feet into the earth. Ask your intuition to guide and help you.

Exercise One

Using sheets/pieces of different coloured paper. Ask your friend to concentrate on one colour at a time, while you write down the colour you sense that your friend is seeing.  Both of you can note down the colours, so that you can compare your results after a few goes. Then change places.

Exercise Two

Follow the same format that I described in Exercise One, using playing cards.  First work with the suits, then when you are more experienced work with the numbers on the cards.

Exercise Three

Imagine a very small version of yourself coming up and out of the top of your head and going into the top of your friend’s head and down into one of their feet. Gradually let this small version of yourself explore the whole inside of their body, noting the places that feel stiff, painful, blocked etc and noting any other impressions that you receive. When you have finished, bring the small version of yourself up and out of their head and back inside your own head. Thank your intuition, thank your partner, come back fully into your body. Write down your impressions and then share them with your friend and receive their feedback. Then change places.

I hope you enjoy and practice these exercises, designed for developing your intuition and that by doing them, you will gain confidence in your own inherent intuitive abilities.

When I give readings nowadays, I ask people to give me their impressions of some of the cards that I pick for them, before I offer my own interpretations.  This does several things; it gives the person asking for the reading direct insight into their situation and it also and very importantly, leaves the power in their hands. These personal impressions of the cards give me a fresh look at the cards’ meaning and a new perspective on the question that I am being asked.

Sometimes I think that a reader (certainly this is true for me) can have set meanings for the cards fixed in their minds.  In one way this is good, as it enables the reader to gather the information from the symbols rapidly and deliver a helpful reading.  On the other hand, having fixed meanings for the cards brings a certain rigidity to the interpretation .

So I offer the following exercise: If you are not familiar with the cards you will learn something about them from doing this. If you are familiar with the cards, this will give you fresh insight and a new perspective.  Sometimes gaining a new perspective doesn’t take much at all – simply a step to one side.

Four of Cups001 595x1024 The Four of Cups Developing Your Intuition

Look at this card for a few minutes, without preconceptions and with an open mind. Open notepad or write on a piece of paper and jot down the impressions that you receive from this card.

How do you feel when you look at the card? What do the symbols say to you? How would it feel to be the man in the card? Put yourself into the picture for a few minutes; feel the grass, the air, the tree trunk against your back. What are the cups made of and what is inside them?  Are you aware of the other cup that is being offered?  What does it contain?

Please feel free to leave your impressions as a comment below this post.  I am going to do this right now too and I will leave mine on my Impressions Page.  Don’t be tempted to look at mine till you have done the exercise yourself.

trust your intuition001 209x300 Developing Your Intuition Three Simple Exercises

Here follow three simple exercises to help you develop your intuition.

These can be done on your own, without any expense or special preparation.  As with everything in life, developing your intuition takes practice, so keep going even if nothing much seems to be happening to begin with.

Each individual has a unique way of receiving intuitive impressions, so see which way your intuition is speaking to you.  Is it through a feeling, a hunch, a bodily sensation, an image, a knowing, or words that you hear in your head?

1) Imagine what will be in your post box when you open it each day. Guess the number of total items by asking yourself ’What mail do I have in my mail box today?’ Don’t attach any importance as to whether you are right or wrong.  On a sheet of paper, note down in one column the number you come up with and then in another column, the amount of mail that actually arrives.

2) When your phone or mobile rings, imagine who it is before you answer it. Ask yourself ‘Who is calling me now?’ Again its useful to note down the results of this exercise, with a time and date too.

3) Have a pack of ordinary playing cards placed face down in front of you.  Take one card from the pack and keeping it face down, close your eyes and imagine what colour it is, either red or black. Continue  this process with the other cards in the pack and note down your answers.

When you have done this exercise for a while and achieved a measure of success, you can proceed to guessing the numbers on the cards. Again note down your answers and the numbers of the cards themselves, to see if some sort of pattern emerges and how you are progressing.

Have fun with developing your intuition, take these exercises lightly and do them often. You will soon begin to trust your hunches and feelings and discover that your intuition, is an invaluable asset in all aspects of daily life.

The Star0014 175x300 Intuition Developing Your Intuition

I had no idea I was intuitive, until in a dance class one day, the teacher said to me ‘You are the most intuitive member of this class’.  I was quite shocked, it was something I’d never thought about.  I knew that my mother was considered very intuitive, but this was made light of.  My (then) husband could sniff the wind to find an address – pretty impressive I thought. My own intuition – I’d never even considered it.

So intuition has crept up on me so to speak and little by little more and more each day, I trust what it has to tell me. I would counsel you to do the same, listening to the hunch, the feeling, the knowing, the image; everyone has their own way to connect with their intuition.  I love the idea of the still small voice. My mother says that if she doesn’t listen to that voice (which is often drowned out by much louder voices) things don’t turn out well for her.

I love to give email tarot readings to people, to help them on their way with their issues and problems. Also, in creating this site, I would like to encourage people to develop their own innate skills, to learn to trust themselves and their intuitive powers. Otherwise other people, peer pressure, the media, religion, dogma and all those other outside authorities, hold the guiding reins of our lives.

So here’s a simple exercise.

I would like you to breathe deep as you look at this picture of the tarot card, The Star and see what impressions come to you. These impressions may come to you in the form of feelings, words, images, symbols or as a knowing. Write down what you receive. This will only take you a few minutes.  You can post your impressions as a comment if you like. There are no wrong or right answers, only deeper levels of understanding.

I will do the same and post my impressions on the Intuitive Impressions page. Take a look at mine too, if you like.

I think its true when its said that you teach what you most want to learn.

I had an inspiration last night – to awaken your intuition, dear reader as well as mine, with a simple exercise to do right now. My last post was about developing ones intuition and I suggested an exercise, but I realize how easy it is to put something off till tomorrow and not ever get round to doing  it.

What I would like you to do, is bring up Notepad on one side of your screen and have the picture of the Queen of Cups on the other side of your screen.

Breathe deeply as you look at the picture and note down any impressions that come to you. Let the impressions flow, don’t edit them.  You may hear some words, see things move in the picture, have a feeling about the card or ideas may come to you. Whatever way your intuition speaks to you is the right way for you.

Do that right now.  Then leave me a comment to let me know how you got on. I think you will find this to be a very interesting and enlightening exercise and it will only take a few moments of your time.

I’m going to do this too, I will leave my impressions on a separate page.

tracks to rainbow 300x203 How To Develop Your IntuitionEveryone is intuitive, in some this facility is fully developed, in others its hardly functioning, like a muscle that has atrophied through lack of use.

Even though some people appear to be naturally gifted, everyone can learn to develop their intuition.  Like everything else in life, all it takes is practise

Are you aware of your intuition and how it speaks to you?  Take a minute to think before answering.

Does it speak to you through feelings, bodily sensations, ‘ knowing’, or maybe a combination of all these things?

Its important to be quiet enough to listen to your intuition.  Meditation helps to still the mind, so that you can hear what the still small voice has to say to you.

Simple Steps To Help You Develop Your Intuition

Devote a period of time on a regular basis to developing your intuition. This doesn’t have to be a very long period, just a regular practice.

1)  Sit comfortably somewhere that you won’t be disturbed and concentrate your mind on your breath – watch it moving in and out of your body. Relax more and more each time you breathe out.  Letting thoughts come and go, not struggling just being with your breath.

2)  Ask your intuition a question and wait quietly to see or feel what answer comes to you.  Begin with a simple question, something that it will be easy for you to act upon or verify. Nothing much may seem to happen, or the answer may seem vague.  This is fine.

3)  Keep a journal of these sessions; write down what you asked, the answer you received and how the intuitive impression came to you. By this I mean; does it come through a sound, a sight, a colour, a feeling, a knowing etc.  It doesn’t matter how vague the answer appears to be, because with practice the impressions will become stronger.

4)  Alternatively or additionally if you have a pack of Tarot Cards, ask your question and then pick a card from the pack. What does the card say to you?  What does it mean to you?  Do the colours and images appear to move and change?  Whatever impressions come to you from the cards, write them down, don’t edit the feelings and images you receive, just let the impressions flow.

5)  Below what you have written, leave a space, so that you can note down later what happened to you in your daily life. For example, you asked your intuition   ‘Should I contact Mary today’ and the response was ‘yes’ and you contacted Mary as a result.  Note down what happened and how you felt about what happened, as a result of listening to and acting upon your intuition.

6)  Thank your intuition for the guidance and wisdom it has imparted to you. Return to the room, your bodily sensations and your daily life.

Its through acting on these promptings and noticing the results, that you will begin to trust your intuition to guide you in the decisions that you have to make, every day of your life.

As Albert Einstein once said, Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

Discover and develop your innate intuitive abilities, which are so much needed in the world today. Click here to subscribe to the bi-monthly Intuition Development Newsletter – ‘INTUITIVE’.
