The Page of Swords – Tarot Card Meaning

Louise D 2 January 2012 1 Page of Swords Meaning

Here are some thoughts on the Page of Swords

Swords – mental function, thoughts, realm of ideas
Page – youthful, immature
The young man in the picture holds his sword to his chest, he is defensive and ready to attack if provoked
Bare landscape, harsh looking environment, windswept and sparse.

Here follow some ideas about the meaning of The Page of Swords Tarot Card.

I was given a deeper insight into this card whilst involved in a short lived virtual relationship recently.  When I asked the cards questions about the relationship and its potential The Page of Swords Card appeared in nearly all of the readings symbolizing to the man in question. I wondered about this at the time…..

He and I conversed by email and got on very well using that medium, we then started talking by phone and again we got on brilliantly and yet there was a slightly harsh edge to his voice which made me wonder about him.  He was also quite a lot younger than me, which would account for the Page part of the symbolism. Also highly intelligent, which would account for the Swords part….

We were at the stage when we were about to meet up in person and I was getting quite excited about the whole thing.  Then……..I was doing a very complex and involved Tarot Reading which literally took me 7 hours to complete.  In the middle of this intense period of concentration, he phoned me and I said I would phone him back when I had finished…….several hours later I returned his call. Only to be met with a less than enthusiastic response.  I could understand why he would be pissed off and I apologized profusely and explained my situation but never heard a thing from him again.

From this I surmised that he was:

  • reactive
  • defensive
  • needy, touchy and sensitive
  • emotionally immature
  • quick to judge
  • had an easily bruised ego

So, through working with the cards and at the same time having an intense interpersonal experience I felt that I gained a very real sense of the Page of Swords energy.

Thank you dear Page of Swords. Really, I will be more thoughtful, considerate and careful next time!

The Ace of Cups - Tarot Card Meaning

Ace of Cups 175x300 The Ace of Cups Meaning

In this post I will outline some meanings for the Ace of Cups Tarot Card

A new start in love

New love affair

Being offered love and friendship

The hand of friendship being extended

Beginning everything with love

Possibility of love

Seeing where love leads

My own feelings about the Ace of Cups Tarot Card

A great blessing is being bestowed, love is being offered. The emotions are being stirred and everything is possible. There is so much potential represented in the Ace of Cups Tarot Card.

How exciting and lovely it is when love is offered.  The heart can be touched, if it is open enough to be touched that is.

In the Ace of Cups Card, the symbol of the bird above the cup seems to me to be giving a blessing.  The circle with the cross reminds me of a communion wafer.

Ace of Cups – Symbolism

The bird represents a dove, the messenger of hope and peace.   The cross represents the spirit reaching to earth and “crossing” through the human body/the physical plane. The horizontal line represents the physical, the earth, the material world. The circle represents the whole, universality and connection.

The Ace of Cups is saying that what is being offered through love is nothing less than divine.

The cup/the vessel/container of love can be a person, thing, situation, job, animal.

In the Ace of Cups Tarot Card, the cup itself is overflowing with liquid, which falls into and mingles with the waters below.  To me this symbolizes;

The way the emotion of love connects you with everything and everyone else.

How love dissolves barriers and unites people.

How the emotions link you with the mysterious ebb and flow of life.

How the emotion of love can take you outside of your ego centred self.

Whose is the hand that is offering this gift of love? For in whatever way love comes to you, it is part of the One Source of Love. Love is calling  for the small sense of self to dissolve into the whole.

The Ace of Cups is full of potential.  What are you going to do with this precious gift that is being offered to you?

I hope you have enjoyed this post about the Ace of Cups Meaning.

The Two of Swords Tarot Card Interpretation

My grateful thanks to Holly Marie Colino for this Guest Post, an excellent interpretation of the Two of Swords Tarot Card.

Two of Swords Two Of Swords Tarot Card Interpretation

The Two of Swords

    • “Purified Judgment” Do I need to act now?
    • Could my decision include submission?
    • If I am avoiding, I am creating barriers. How? Why? Where?
    • Do I believe in myself enough to have calm assurance that I will be able to endure the unfolding events from my choices?
    • What do I need to tap into in order to have more Faith in my future?
    • Am I trying to rush my decisions rather than allowing them to unfold before or within me?
    • Have I entered my inaudible and sanctified corridors?

*Allow yourself to be influenced by Heavenly Justice and its balancing effect. Heavenly purity will assist you in liberating your mind of past conditioning causing indecision.

*Instead of staring into the Moon and its reflections, allow yourself to be open to the psychic energy in order to receive taciturn messages.

*Be honest if you are creating barriers or if you are avoiding, realize that those energies are not the true solution.

*You may want to avoid conventional means of guidance and allow the subtle motions of Gods energy to assist your Judgment.

*Allow and patiently be open to receiving pure ordered thoughts and tacit understanding.

*Cleanse your thoughts from the perplexity of your emotions while barring any physical senses which influence your clarity and ability to make divine Judgments.

“Balance the mind using purified intellect and intuition with trust”

Two of Swords

Thinking one way and feeling the opposite will create contradictions causing indecision. What is causing the inability to bring our thoughts into harmony?

Barriers that we establish often cause stalemates in situations.

Sometimes we need an objective mediator to create balance. Outside of our thoughts and emotions lies our psychic self and guidance from our Faith. In order to let go of the avoidance that our emotions and thoughts may be causing us we must purify ourselves from self- defeating controls in order to accept the truth and walk in it with trust.  Again, you have choice.

Four of  Pentacles Tarot Interpretation

Grateful thanks to Holly Marie Colino for writing this Guest Post, an interpretation of the Four of Pentacles Tarot Card.

Four of Pentacles1 171x300 Four Of Pentacles Tarot Interpretation

 The Four of Pentacles

“Protecting the Self”

  1. What am I keeping to myself that should be shared with others or in support of society?
  2. Are my fears about safety, security and financial hardship rational?
  3. Why do I hold these fears about security, safety and financial hardship and are they from past circumstances that I have let influence my emotions which are causing these limiting thoughts?
  4. What bondages from the past can I free that no longer hold true to the reality of my situation in order to liberate myself from isolating emotions and feelings?
  5. Is my ability to express my feelings blocking or supporting my social competence?
  6. Do I need to consider my willingness to share my thoughts?
  7. Why am I unwilling to share myself or my achievements with society?

Here is an example of why a client would draw the Four of Pentacles for a guidance card:

Client X feels socially oppressed. Client X claims they suffer from relationships that include receiving mixed messages, betrayal and deception. Client X did have 3 cases in their past in which deception was found to be true. Relationships within love, business, college, religion, family, friends, and so on are unclear to X. X has sent me a claim to receive guidance about deceiving relationships because X feels isolated and is lonely. X also claims that others hold ulterior motives and that is why X feels they have keep to themselves all the time. X claims they suffer from indecision. X also claims they are afraid to enroll in college because they feel they may get the “run around”.

Even if feelings occur naturally (subconscious) we still can’t state that emotions and feelings you have received are an effect from the party you are accusing. Critical thinking can be manipulated due to self -interest and self-motivation. Post-traumatic stress can cause one to perceive situations inaccurately. Post-traumatic stresses can trigger emotions from past situations that influence thoughts and feelings in the present. We now can say that one’s feelings and thoughts cannot be the judging factor of truth in their claims of another’s motives.

The Four of Pentacles as a result of drawn cards in your reading discloses preoccupations that involve potential threat to your security. In this case, X’s security is being challenged by dependence upon degrees of reliability, loyalty, truth, selflessness, and wholesomeness because the cause involves relationships. Relationships concern degrees of all the above traits. These traits open us to vulnerability which challenges our security.

The Four of Pentacles will also question your perception of security. X now holds on to negative beliefs and these beliefs degrade their convictions to pursue or follow through with opportunities concerning relationships. X is afraid that their security, safety and physical energies will be taken advantage of by others if they choose to join in or initiate commitment. X is now limiting their possibilities with their thoughts by assuming ill will.

Client X holds on to their feelings and thoughts from past situations while racing them over and over again irrationally. X is not addressing where their accountability has been an influence in creating their current dissatisfaction. This is causing X to not analyze their present relationships accurately and without bias. X does not accurately perceive present situations.

The effects of X’s assumptions have manifested disillusionment, avoidance, illusions, confusion and misdirection. Inadvertently this has caused X to be at an indecision concerning their educational path and what to major in and if they should approach online or on campus education. (Another life changing decision) X is now creating more isolation by avoiding the college classes he/she signed up for. X does not exhibit a strong conviction to pursue college education.

We can say that if one is being suppressed with the Four of Pentacles energy they may also be confused about their direction. X has been assuming outcomes. Your direction will not be clear if meaningful parts of yourself are not unleashed and you are not taking accountability while assessing situations objectively.

If X is not addressing all the facts, can X create a solution? X has not organized their thoughts, addressed all the facts and taken any accountability. X has judged opportunities with assumptions and bias. X has created their present claimed isolation, indecision and sense of loneliness.

This is connected to will and choice. What are you avoiding? Are you activating irrational beliefs? Why are you avoiding all the facts?

In Summary:  The Four of Pentacles speaks straight forward.

In all Tarot cards you have a choice. You must take accountability for your actions to see Truth. Only looking at the spilt milk will cause stalemate and fallacy. You must look at yourself and ask why. You must question yourself and answer honestly. In any situation you choose to engage in or avoid, is your will making the decision? Has bias influenced your present critical thinking? You must also recognize that avoiding facing your role in an upsetting situation is causing you to hold on to negative emotions that affect your confidence and security which helps to create dissatisfying circumstances. Do you want clarity and a solution to your problem? Truth is the way to gain clarity so you may create a solution. You will also blind yourself to truth by avoiding all the facts. (Facts) Your actions are facts in many cases you are involved with. Take a good honest look at yourself. Get over the fact that humility is part of self- development and all humans suffice humility. Forgive yourself for any past situation in which you did not detect underlying motives, were at the mercy of another’s security (being a child) or absence of another honoring your partnership. Seeing what you want to see or brooding over past events will not give you Justice.

In this case the 4th and 3rd questions proposed above should be the first questions contemplated.

Note:

Root Chakra work should be a compliment to self- assessment concerning The Four of Pentacles. Our Root Chakra governs our harmony with areas of Trust, Security, Safety and Physical Energy.

The Ten of Wands

Grateful thanks to Holly Marie Colino, for writing this Guest Post; a perceptive and concise interpretation of the Ten of Wands Tarot Card.

Ten of Wands The Ten of Wands Tarot Card Interpretation
“Amass and Congregate”

*Collecting our experiences or goods and utilizing them for a cause for the future.

* Tying up loose ends.

* Energies coming together to serve and sacrifice for a common interest.

 * Carrying our burdens with us for a goal which ensures a greater future.

An example of this energy could be preparing for a trial, a group of people working together on a community project outside their day jobs, a family preparing for a move, or attending college atop your job, family and other many responsibilities.

The Ten of Wands Tarot Card will always entail some oppression (pressure). This card does mean you will be bearing the loads and you will be left alone with bearing all the burdens; you will be the bearer of all the duties.

The Ten of Wands Tarot Card will ask you if you are burdening yourself with over extension. Oppression challenges us on an emotional level. Are we yielding to others or a stigma? Are we the cause of our burdens? How can I have a clear vision if I am shouldering too many burdens? Do I always have to shoulder another ones burdens? Can I say no? Are you too narrowly focused and overcommited to one cause?

The Ten of Wands Tarot Card asks you to take a re-stock of your current lifestyle. Assess your deficiencies and excess. Take time to reflect from your experiences and regroup your priorities. Here is a story that pertains to a client sufficing the Ten of Wands energy:

Client X is living alone and does not have any family or friends. X just moved into a new town. X enrolled in college. X needs to find work while in College. X meets a friend who turns out to be a stalker while X is in college burdened with loads of homework and the college has yet to give X an advisor. X is struggling to know where they stand in college due to no advisor. X is burdened with having to find the right path in their college education and is still trying to find work in between all of the other pressures. X is being burdened by other students for help on homework and by this stalker who bombards X’s boundaries with constant threatening and sexually harassing phone calls, texts, visits to X’s apartment late at night, popping up many times while at college or the store etc. During this entire time X has no emotional support.

If you have ever visited this site before, you will know that I am always changing things around and finding new ways of doing things. So, a new spread…..

Here is  a Tarot Spread based on  the The Six Directions.

The six directions are North, South, East, West, Great Mother Earth and Great Spirit Sky.

I lay the cards out – one card for each direction. Now I hasten to add, this is my particular way of doing this and other people may have different ideas:

  1. East, air, mental faculty. thought
  2. South, fire, sexuality, passion, drive
  3. West, water, emotions, feelings
  4. North, earth, physicality, the body
  5. Great Mother – connection to the Earth
  6. Father Sky – connection to Great Spirit

The Six Directions Tarot Spread

Here is a practical example of the spread:

I have been wondering for a while, given the general economic situation, together with the fact that I like the idea, about bartering tarot readings. So with this idea in mind I drew the cards for the Six Directions:

I am going to write a little about how intuitive readings work, from my own experience. Other Intuitives will have  different experiences/ways of working and so will describe things differently.

In my opinion, the main difference between an Intuitive Tarot Reading and an ‘ordinary’ (not that any reading can be ordinary!) Tarot Reading, is that the reader draws their tarot interpretation, directly from their intuition, rather than from a set meaning, learned from a book or other outside source.

Take for example, the Ace of Swords Card in the outcome position of a tarot spread.

Ace of Swords Intuitive Tarot Readings/How They Work

Here is a set meaning of the Ace of Swords Tarot Card:

Focus, force, clarity, insight, intensity. The appearance of this card in a reading is like drawing the sword from the stone.  The card is saying that you do have, the intelligence, strength and foresight to be able to tackle and deal successfully with whatever life is throwing your way.

So, in the outcome position of a tarot spread the Ace of Swords card, would indicate that the Querent (person asking the question) will have the strength and wherewithal to handle the situation at hand. It probably will not be easy, but the Querent will deal with the situation successfully in the long run.

Reading the Card Intuitively

This is only an example to give you an idea of what I am describing.

Looking at the Ace of Swords Card, the reader senses a feeling of unease, they see the sword wobbling slightly where it stands and see someone other than the Querent, attempting to pick it up.  So, using their intuition the reader interprets the Ace of Swords Card slightly differently, from the set meaning:  That the Querent may be fearful and have difficulty in accessing the power and strength needed, to make a success of the situation. Being forewarned of this tendency, gives the Querent the opportunity to face their fears and exercise caution, especially with regard to giving their power away.

Speaking as someone who began by giving Tarot Readings strictly from the set meanings of the cards.  Over time and with experience, I have now gained the self confidence to use the intuitive approach.

I hope this has given you some understanding of Intuitive Tarot Readings and how they work.

I am very grateful for the perceptive insights into this card, given in this Guest Post, by Holly Marie Colino.

Seven of Wands 300x260 Tarot Card Interpretation The Seven Of Wands

The Seven Of Wands – Tarot Card Interpretation

“Valor, Self Reliance, Cogitation”

This does not mean to castigate your opposition but to expose yourself with purpose and bravery. What does personal courage mean to you? Personal courage is what it sounds, personal. That is you standing in a confident and sure footed position for yourself with courage and purpose. The Seven of Wands has you standing in your truth in order to sustain your divine values, boundaries, worth and beliefs for causes that are personal or for the greater good of humanity in which you stand. This represents a brave individual with willingness to take the undesired position, as a lone entity against all opposition, for an honorable cause.

“Alone by being opposed to the group”

Alternatively this can mean that the opposition you face is within in you. The meaning of the Seven of Wands can challenge your coping ability to emotionally persevere with moral integrity. This card can speak of spiritual inner battles.

“Spirit within the inner self as your only ally”

The test is to seek how we can pull from our inner reserves and hold faith to persevere. The Seven of Wands suggests that we use diplomacy and tact to get through a conflict (consider the sea of opinions).  How can we effectively get our point across and respect the views of others? Is this asking you to face your inner battles, the ones that are not serving your divine spirit? Is there any inner “demon” holding you back from your Highest Self that must be faced with honesty? The Seven of Wands could be telling you that you are up against your own thoughts and emotional bondages that are imprisoning.

Ask yourself if this really means for you to apply the energy of the Seven of Wands to your internal self. If this be the case you must consider initiating yourself in any potential conflicts. Ask yourself what issues can I just let go and do I always need to make my point in a situation and be right. What potential or current conflicts are really worth the time and energy? In each demeanor of the Seven of Wands (inner or outer opposition) you have a choice. All cards in the tarot present you with a choice.

I am delighted and grateful, that Holly Marie Colino has written a Guest Post for this site, about The  Star Tarot Card.

The Star 300x266 The Star Tarot Card

The Star Tarot Card.

The Star Tarot Card symbolizes that you are liberated from false securities. After the death of a situation or a towering event you learn that what your intuition said was no good, must be discerned and complimented with critical thinking. You also may have noticed that allowing yourself to yield to external pressures or stigmas has gotten you into situations where your true self could not be honored and unleashed.

This causes acceptance of what you have created and gives new insights into your development.

New hope and personal power supports you to move authentically. Passionate energy resonates within you from the valor you displayed in getting through the trials. You now have hope for manifesting your desires.
This is a time to reinvent yourself and your life. You are the energy that radiates and magnetizes what you can attain. Why not rejuvenate your entire core being? The Star Tarot Card is symbolic of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual cleansing.

The energy of the Star Tarot Card tells you that you now have enough time to evaluate yourself and accept your truth in order to manifest harmony.

Inspiration of Desire – The Star Tarot Card

The Star Tarot Card does give us hope because we know we are now liberated from chaos which manifested from false securities and oppression. This means you are now able to attract opportunities and act on them. You are no longer imprisoned or oppressed to the point of an inability to initiate actions to achieve or nurture what you desire. Here are a few things you must consider:

Do my beliefs support my desires?

What choices can nurture my desires?

Are my behaviors facilitating my desires or blocking them?

Can I accept myself so I may accept the right decisions in order to prevent oppressing and meaningless situations?

Remember; you do not want to create an oppressing future or another decision that will be another false security.

The Star Tarot Card is really telling you that you must utilize the past and contemplate what situations were false securities and oppressing and why. What were you trying to be and who you honestly are.

A real process of ascension is liberating because you are releasing the falsehood within your true self and loving yourself enough to accept your truth and live by your truth. Living in your truth will influence choices that nurture and empower yourself in order to create a life that brings you happiness and lasting security.

The image on this card is a very powerful and disturbing one, it pulls no punches. The Tower Card message for today seems to me, to be very relevant, both for individuals and also for the collective.

The Tower The Tower Card Message For Today

The base of something; whether it be a relationship, an economy, an endeavour, or the motivation of a group of people, has of necessity to be built on solid and firm foundations.

The Tower Card symbolizes the catastrophes, strokes of fortune, and unexpected events that appear seemingly out of the blue, to test these foundations to the limits.

What foundations is our society built upon?  Are they going to stand this testing time?

What foundations are our lives built upon?

In my own life, I can feel that the foundations my own ‘tower’ rests upon, are very rocky and the masonry is starting to fall about my ears.

Is there anything shaky in your life that needs your immediate attention to prevent a collapse?

How do we personally and collectively build a life and a society on firm foundations?

The Tower card message for today cannot be ignored, it will not go away.  Does the edifice have to crumble completely, before something stronger and more durable is built up to replace it?  Or can we, by heeding the very obvious warning signs,  act swiftly and expediently, to rebuild our respective towers before their total collapse?

Please leave a comment below, because I would love to know your views and opinions.

In this post I invite you to take a good look at the Lovers Card in order engage in its symbolism and meaning.

I am hoping that the Lovers Card will be able to give you insight into this important area of your life. So that, as well as learning about the card, you will learn about yourself and your relationship to love.

Below are a few questions, they are only meant as suggestions, there is no need to follow them rigidly. Let the card speak directly to you, so that whatever you perceive is meaningful for you. Do your best to disregard any preconceptions or other people’s interpretations of this Tarot Card.

So, without more ado, breathe deeply and as you look at this Tarot Card; see, hear and feel what the card is saying just to you (you can open Notepad and write down what you perceive and if you wish, please share your perceptions in the comments box below, then we will all benefit.)

1) What do the two figures mean to you?

2) What is the woman saying to you?

3) What is the man saying to you?

4) What blessing is the Angel giving you?

5) What does the Mountain between the two figures represent to you?

6) What do the trees mean to you?

7) What is the Snake saying to you?

icon cool Tarot Card The Lovers Is the Lovers Card saying anything else to you ?

Lovers Card1 Tarot Card The Lovers

I am reminded as I write this of the beautiful line from the poem Desiderata:

‘Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass’.

In doing the above exercise myself (see Impressions Page) I noticed three things I hadn’t seen before – the Mountain, the Snake and the Clouds beneath the Angel.  The message I received from The Lovers Tarot Card, was very revealing too.

One Year Anniversary For Email Tarot Reading

I began this Email Tarot Reading site on January 29th, 2010 and of course gave myself a reading to see how it was going to go.  The outcome card of the five card spread, was one of my favourite cards - The Six of Cups.  I  did a couple of extra spreads over the course of a few days, to confirm the reading and this card appeared each time.

Take a look at the card for a few moments and consider what it means to you.  Also have a think about what it might mean in relation to  Email Tarot Readings.

Six of Cups 179x300 Email Tarot Reading Year One

To me the Six of Cups speaks of trust, sharing and friendship – there is also something beautifully innocent about the picture on the card itself – giving and receiving gifts between friends, the intimacies shared between friends – openhearted, accepting, allowing, trusting, forgiving.

Now, I wouldn’t say this site has been a huge financial success in its first year, but it has certaintly brought me riches in other ways. For, over the course of the year, I have had the great honour of being trusted by people who have shared their problems with me. In return I have done my best to shine light and bring positive energy through my readings.  I have been contacted by people from all over the world and some of these people have become my friends. I feel as though my own world has been enlarged and enriched as a result.  I had no idea that this would happen when I started out.

The outcome card I have drawn for this next year of Email Tarot Reading,  is one of my all time favourite cards – The High Priestess – which augers well both for my own developing intuition and for the intuition of the people who visit this site. For, as much as I like to give readings and help  people with their problems, I would love others to use and trust their own intuitive abilities too.  Hopefully, we will all become wiser and more in touch with our inner knowing over the course of the coming year.

Death6 The Death Card Some Interpretations

I am writing about The Death Card when it appears in a spread, as I have had occasion to contemplate this card and what it represents, in my own life recently.

When I give a reading and this card appears, depending on its position in the spread, I counsel the Querent to be aware of a major transformation occurring/going to occur in their life.  The death of one thing/the end of a way of being in the world.  The ending making way for a fresh new life and a new beginning. This end is inevitable and necessary, much like winter paving the way for spring. Without this death/ending there is no room for new birth and new growth.

Now, I am very aware that humans (speaking for myself here) are creatures of habit and that we can get used to something/someone in our lives, even if that someone or something is difficult or painful to bear.  So, often its not an easy thing to accept, when a situation changes drastically, or a person leaves our lives.  Major readjustment is needed, also and often a period of grieving for what has been lost.

In my case, I drew the Death Card in the outcome position, when I asked the cards about a sick cat’s health and the likelihood of his recovery. However, I couldn’t accept this card as symbolizing a physical death, I didn’t want to know.  It made me wonder, how often I give people readings and they don’t want to hear what I am saying?  Who wants to be told bad news, no matter how positively written.  I certainly don’t!

Nevertheless, when interpreting the Death Card in a reading I stress that the death referred to is a transition to another condition. For, depending on the question and the other cards in the spread, this death could refer to the ending of a relationship, to the ending of a job/situation, the ending of a way of being in the world, the necessity of making a break…or as in my cat’s case the physical ending of a life.

In my own case, the impending death of my cat has since been confirmed, both by the Veterinarian and by an Animal Communicator. If you are not aware of the possibility of communicating with animals you might find what I am saying here a bit strange.  No stranger than Tarot Readings really….another way of being intuitive, another way to bypass the rational mind and receive relevant and pertinent information to help in our lives. (I am waiting now till my cat tells me when he wants to go).

It is impossible to circumvent or sidestep Death. The old has at some point, to give way to the new, this is part and parcel of the cycle of life.

This is interesting:

I was having difficulty scanning in the Death Card, though I have had no trouble doing this in the past.  I thought my printer was malfunctioning – the ghost in the machine it seems.  I have been doing some scanning since and having no problems at all.

The following picture is of the Death Card and is the same picture as the one above, but translated into something else during the scanning process. It looks like some sort of bird to me. What do you think? Symbolic of the trans-formative nature of death maybe?

When I give readings nowadays, I ask people to give me their impressions of some of the cards that I pick for them, before I offer my own interpretations.  This does several things; it gives the person asking for the reading direct insight into their situation and it also and very importantly, leaves the power in their hands. These personal impressions of the cards give me a fresh look at the cards’ meaning and a new perspective on the question that I am being asked.

Sometimes I think that a reader (certainly this is true for me) can have set meanings for the cards fixed in their minds.  In one way this is good, as it enables the reader to gather the information from the symbols rapidly and deliver a helpful reading.  On the other hand, having fixed meanings for the cards brings a certain rigidity to the interpretation .

So I offer the following exercise: If you are not familiar with the cards you will learn something about them from doing this. If you are familiar with the cards, this will give you fresh insight and a new perspective.  Sometimes gaining a new perspective doesn’t take much at all – simply a step to one side.

Four of Cups001 595x1024 The Four of Cups Developing Your Intuition

Look at this card for a few minutes, without preconceptions and with an open mind. Open notepad or write on a piece of paper and jot down the impressions that you receive from this card.

How do you feel when you look at the card? What do the symbols say to you? How would it feel to be the man in the card? Put yourself into the picture for a few minutes; feel the grass, the air, the tree trunk against your back. What are the cups made of and what is inside them?  Are you aware of the other cup that is being offered?  What does it contain?

Please feel free to leave your impressions as a comment below this post.  I am going to do this right now too and I will leave mine on my Impressions Page.  Don’t be tempted to look at mine till you have done the exercise yourself.

The Devil001 174x300 The Devil Card Some Interpretations

Here are some interpretations of The Devil Card that I find helpful:

Major challenge; a situation or person that you face in your life that epitomizes your deepest fears.

Negativity – your own dark side.  Dealing with your own fears, dark secrets and unresolved issues, as they appear and surface in your daily life.

The illusory nature  of matter.  The lovers that appear to be chained to the rock of matter in the picture, are not really chained at all, they can walk free any time they choose. Though the Devil looms over them and seems to control them, if you look closely this is not in fact the case.  Its a bit like the dream scenario and you may be familiar with this one…. You are being chased by a fearsome beast, you are terrified; but when you have the courage to turn and confront this horror, the beast turns out to be a great friend and helper.

The opposite of love. A relationship based in control and manipulation. When sex is used to manipulate and control. When real love is missing from a relationship

Fear, hatred, envy, greed. These seeming monsters, can be dissolved in an instant by the power of love.

Recognizing the dark side within yourself. Rather than pointing the finger at the darkness in others, acknowledging the darkness within yourself.

Instead of bemoaning a situation or individual who is causing you much difficulty, anguish and pain. Try seeing them in a different light; as your teacher, your personal life trainer, your coach. Putting you through your paces in order that you do your very best and win at the game of life.

Temperance001 172x300 Tarot Card Readings How They Work

I offer some insights into how Tarot Card Readings work:

In my opinion, we humans each with our unique name, family, history and social setting, tend to believe the illusion that we are separate from one another. Yet in truth we are all part of the boundless self in which all things are one, we are all connected.

When I am asked for a reading its like being dialled up through the ethers and a conscious connection is made between myself and the person asking for the reading.

I attended an Animal Communication course recently which further expanded my understanding of the oneness and connection between us all.  As the workshop leader said; ‘If you heard what was going on in the thoughts of every animal you passed in the street, your mind would be bombarded by their thoughts and feelings continuously.  Its necessary therefore to concentrate your mind and energy on one individual to receive their communications’.

Likewise, it is necessary for me to be connected to someone in order to be able to give them a reading. This happens simply and easily when I am asked for one, even by someone half way around the world.

For me there is a definite process involved in giving a reading and this process has three separate stages.

1) Tuning In

It is of the utmost importance to be in the right space within myself to give the Reading. I meditate and ask for help from Great Spirit and then concentrate my mind and energies upon the person who has requested the reading.

2)  Dealing The Cards

I have several different packs of cards and use whichever pack I feel drawn to, though usually I use the Rider Waite pack, which is like a reliable old friend to me. I hold the person’s question in my mind and use my intuition to draw cards from the pack, into whichever spread seems appropriate for the reading.

3)  Interpretation

The Tarot Cards speak a symbolic language that is understood by my intuition. My logical mind gathers and sorts this intuitive information into concepts, these I then convert into words and I am then able to communicate the information to the person asking for the Tarot Reading.

To me, the  process of giving a reading is sacred and I feel honoured to be able to give readings to others, especially when they are experiencing difficulty or doubt in their lives.

my question for blog0011 217x300 Tarot Cards Improving A Relationship

In the above spread, I give an example of how I go about answering a question. I will go through the tarot cards with you to show how this works.

The question I was asked:  ‘What can I do to improve my relationship with Simon?‘ This question comes from a reading that I gave recently, I’m using the spread with permission and the name has been changed.

The card on the bottom left signifies the current situation.

This card is the Hanged Man, which turns up regularly when I’m asked for a reading. Its often right at the centre of a general spread, or as in this position, the situation, in the five card spread.

This is an uncomfortable position to be in no matter how centred you are within yourself. Its all about uncertainty, waiting in limbo and suspension, waiting for things to move forward to some sort of conclusion and for some solidity and certainty to come into a situation.  The uncertainty can make us anxious and unsure of ourselves, as matters and outcomes often seem to be in the hands of others and way beyond our influence and control. Its hardly any wonder then, that people ask for readings when they feel like this…

The card at the top right, the cause of the situation and in this spread its the Nine Of Pentacles the card that is associated with feeling successful and having made a success out of something.  As though the pieces of the jigsaw have fitted together in a way that is pleasing and the outcome is satisfying – its about enjoying the fruits of achievement. The feeling of success and attainment.

In this spread this is the feeling and the desire and cause of the situation, a successful relationship, feeling a sense of fulfillment and the attainment of a successful relationship. This that has not yet been achieved, because its still up in the air, as signified by the current situation – the Hanged Man.

The Card of the top left is the point of interest and in this spread it is the World Card. This card is also associated with success. Building a success with all that the elements available in a given situation ie physical, mental, emotional and spiritual attributes, talents and experiences.  Bringing all these together to create success.

So there is much positive content and potential in this particular relationship, which can be and is being used to build a strong and satisfying one.

Card on the bottom right, the way forward or advice card, in this case it is the Page of Swords. This is not a particularly comfortable card as it deals with the sense of being up against the world, as though things aren’t going quite right, which brings on feelings of anger, impatience and irritability. In a relationship this would be rubbing each other up the wrong way, loose tempers and tongues, getting angry before thinking things through.

So, as this card comes in the advice section and way forward, addressing these dynamics within the relationship, is the way to improve it. Seeking out ways to work through difficulties without resorting to anger, frustration and ill will. Finding out why one or both of the partners is getting angry and seeing what can be done about it. There may, for example, be outside pressures which make one of the partners give off stream to the other one. The underlying irritations need to be brought to the surface and addressed calmly. This is a young card, so much learning of maturity and wisdom is to be gained from doing the above.

The card at the top is the Outcome card, in this case the card is the King of Cups. This card signifies a man who is sociable and well rounded, at ease with himself and life in general. It also signifies a situation that has been resolved. The card has a general feeling of well being and satisfaction associated with it.

Conclusion

The whole reading augers well for improvement in the situation and for the attainment of the successful and well rounded relationship, that the Querent is seeking.

(I like to use a Fairy Healing Card, as part of the five card spread too, to give some positive healing advice from the Fairy Realm)

Fairy Healing Card

Miracle Healing

Your thoughts and prayers about the situation have been answered, give up struggling with your thoughts and getting twisted up with your emotions. Trust in the positive outcome that you so desire. Feel and know that the situation is being taken care of perfectly.

‘In truth everything and everyone including myself is healed right now.  I focus on this truth instead of the illusion of fear’

(Doreen Virtue, Healing with the Fairies)
