The Four of Cups – Developing Your Intuition
Posted by Gillian on 14 Jul 2010 | 4 comments | Filed in A simple exercise to help develop your intuitionWhen I give readings nowadays, I ask people to give me their impressions of some of the cards that I pick for them, before I offer my own interpretations. This does several things; it gives the person asking for the reading direct insight into their situation and it also and very importantly, leaves the power in their hands. These personal impressions of the cards give me a fresh look at the cards’ meaning and a new perspective on the question that I am being asked.
Sometimes I think that a reader (certainly this is true for me) can have set meanings for the cards fixed in their minds. In one way this is good, as it enables the reader to gather the information from the symbols rapidly and deliver a helpful reading. On the other hand, having fixed meanings for the cards brings a certain rigidity to the interpretation .
So I offer the following exercise: If you are not familiar with the cards you will learn something about them from doing this. If you are familiar with the cards, this will give you fresh insight and a new perspective. Sometimes gaining a new perspective doesn’t take much at all – simply a step to one side.
Look at this card for a few minutes, without preconceptions and with an open mind. Open notepad or write on a piece of paper and jot down the impressions that you receive from this card.
How do you feel when you look at the card? What do the symbols say to you? How would it feel to be the man in the card? Put yourself into the picture for a few minutes; feel the grass, the air, the tree trunk against your back. What are the cups made of and what is inside them? Are you aware of the other cup that is being offered? What does it contain?
Please feel free to leave your impressions as a comment below this post. I am going to do this right now too and I will leave mine on the Impressions Page at the top of this site. Don’t be tempted to look at mine till you have done the exercise yourself.

Intuition – Developing Your Intuition
Posted by Gillian on 28 Feb 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in A simple exercise to help develop your intuitionI had no idea I was intuitive, until in a dance class one day, the teacher said to me ‘You are the most intuitive member of this class’. I was quite shocked, it was something I’d never thought about. I knew that my mother was considered very intuitive, but this was made light of. My (then) husband could sniff the wind to find an address – pretty impressive I thought. My own intuition – I’d never even considered it.
So intuition has crept up on me so to speak and little by little more and more each day, I trust what it has to tell me. I would counsel you to do the same, listening to the hunch, the feeling, the knowing, the image; everyone has their own way to connect with their intuition. I love the idea of the still small voice. My mother says that if she doesn’t listen to that voice (which is often drowned out by much louder voices) things don’t turn out well for her.
I love to give email tarot readings to people, to help them on their way with issues and problems. Also, in creating this site, I want to encourage other people to develop their own innate skills, to learn to trust themselves and their intuitive powers. Otherwise other people, peer pressure, the media, religion, dogma and all those other outside authorities, hold the guiding reins of our lives.
So here’s a simple exercise.
I would like you to breathe deep as you look at this picture of the tarot card, The Star and see what impressions come to you. These impressions may come to you in the form of feelings, words, images, symbols or as a knowing. Write down what you receive. This will only take you a few minutes. You can post your impressions as a comment if you like. There are no wrong or right answers, only deeper levels of understanding.
I will do the same and post my impressions on the Intuitive Impressions page (see bar at top of page). Take a look at mine too, if you like.
Have fun developing your intuition……

The Queen Of Cups – Developing The Intuition
Posted by Gillian on 6 Feb 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in A simple exercise to help develop your intuitionI think its true when its said that you teach what you most want to learn.
I had an inspiration last night – to awaken your intuition, dear reader as well as mine, with a simple exercise to do right now. My last post was about developing ones intuition and I suggested an exercise, but I realize how easy it is to put something off till tomorrow and not ever get round to doing it.
What I would like you to do, is bring up Notepad on one side of your screen and have the picture of the Queen of Cups on the other side of your screen.
Breathe deeply as you look at the picture and note down any impressions that come to you. Let the impressions flow, don’t edit them. You may hear some words, see things move in the picture, have a feeling about the card or ideas may come to you. Whatever way your intuition speaks to you is the right way for you.
Do that right now. Then leave me a comment to let me know how you got on. I think you will find this to be a very interesting and enlightening exercise and it will only take a few moments of your time.
I’m going to do this too, I will leave my impressions on a separate page. You can access them by clicking where it says ‘Intuitive Impressions’ on the black bar right at the top of the page. I don’t want to influence you with my ideas, so don’t be tempted to look until you have done the exercise yourself.
