The Four of Cups – Developing Your Intuition
Posted by Gillian on 14 Jul 2010 | 2 comments | Filed in A simple exercise to help develop your intuitionWhen I give readings nowadays, I ask people to give me their impressions of some of the cards that I pick for them, before I offer my own interpretations. This does several things; it gives the person asking for the reading direct insight into their situation and it also and very importantly, leaves the power in their hands. These personal impressions of the cards give me a fresh look at the cards’ meaning and a new perspective on the question that I am being asked.
Sometimes I think that a reader (certainly this is true for me) can have set meanings for the cards fixed in their minds. In one way this is good, as it enables the reader to gather the information from the symbols rapidly and deliver a helpful reading. On the other hand, having fixed meanings for the cards brings a certain rigidity to the interpretation .
So I offer the following exercise: If you are not familiar with the cards you will learn something about them from doing this. If you are familiar with the cards, this will give you fresh insight and a new perspective. Sometimes gaining a new perspective doesn’t take much at all – simply a step to one side.
Look at this card for a few minutes, without preconceptions and with an open mind. Open notepad or write on a piece of paper and jot down the impressions that you receive from this card.
How do you feel when you look at the card? What do the symbols say to you? How would it feel to be the man in the card? Put yourself into the picture for a few minutes; feel the grass, the air, the tree trunk against your back. What are the cups made of and what is inside them? Are you aware of the other cup that is being offered? What does it contain?
Please feel free to leave your impressions as a comment below this post. I am going to do this right now too and I will leave mine on the Impressions Page at the top of this site. Don’t be tempted to look at mine till you have done the exercise yourself.

The Devil Card – Some Interpretations
Posted by Gillian on 7 Jun 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in Interpretations of The Devil CardHere are some interpretations of the Devil Card that I find helpful:
Major challenge; a situation or person that you face in your life that epitomizes your deepest fears.
Negativity – your own dark side. Dealing with your own fears, dark secrets and unresolved issues, as they appear and surface in your daily life.
The illusory nature of matter. The lovers that appear to be chained to the rock of matter in the picture, are not really chained at all, they can walk free any time they choose. Though the Devil looms over them and seems to control them, if you look closely this is not in fact the case. Its a bit like the dream scenario and you may be familiar with this one…. You are being chased by a fearsome beast, you are terrified; but when you have the courage to turn and confront this horror, the beast turns out to be a great friend and helper.
The opposite of love. A relationship based in control and manipulation. When sex is used to manipulate and control. When real love is missing from a relationship
Fear, hatred, envy, greed. These seeming monsters, can be dissolved in an instant by the power of love.
Recognizing the dark side within yourself. Rather than pointing the finger at the darkness in others, acknowledging the darkness within yourself.
Instead of bemoaning a situation or individual who is causing you much difficulty, anguish and pain. Try seeing them in a different light; as your teacher, your personal life trainer, your coach. Putting you through your paces in order that you do your very best and win at the game of life.

Tarot Card Readings – How They Work
Posted by Gillian on 5 Jun 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in How Tarot Readings Work
Based on my experiences over the past few months I offer some insights into how Tarot Readings work:
The little bundles of matter that we humans think we are; with a name, family, history and social setting, leads us to believe the illusion that we are separate from one another. The boundless self in which all things are one, is the source of the Wisdom of the Tarot. The reader is the facilitator/ interpreter of this wisdom.
When I am asked for a reading its like being dialled up through the ethers. Its necessary then, to tune into a greater sense of knowing than the one used in everyday life, to buy the shopping etc.
I attended an Animal Communication course recently which further expanded my understanding of the oneness and connection between us all. As the workshop leader said; ‘If you heard what was going on in the thoughts of every animal you passed in the street, your mind would be bombarded by their thoughts and feelings continuously. Its necessary therefore to concentrate your mind and energy on one individual to receive their communications’.
Likewise, it is necessary for me to be connected to someone in order to be able to give them a reading. This happens simply and easily when I am asked for a reading, even by someone half way around the world.
For me there is a definite process involved in giving a reading and this process has three separate stages.
1) Tuning In
It is of the utmost importance to be in the right space within myself to give the Reading. I meditate and ask for help from Great Spirit and then concentrate my mind and energies upon the person who has requested the reading.
2) Dealing The Cards
I have several different packs of cards and use whichever pack I feel drawn to, though I mainly use the Rider Waite pack, which is like a reliable old friend to me. I hold the person’s question in my mind and use my intuition to draw cards from the pack, into whichever spread seems appropriate for the reading.
3) Interpretation
The Tarot Cards speak a symbolic language that is understood by my intuition. My logical mind gathers and sorts the intuitive information into concepts and these I then convert into words. I then communicate these words to the person asking for the Tarot Reading.
To me the whole process of giving a reading is a Sacred Act and I feel honoured to be able to do this.

Tarot Spread – Creating Your Own
Posted by Gillian on 8 Apr 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in Creating Your Own Tarot SpreadOnce you have become familiar with the Tarot Cards themselves and a few of the layouts / spreads that are available, its time to find your own Tarot Spread and your own unique way of working.
Its how the symbols speak to you and how you interpret them that matters and this comes with practice. For myself, every time I work with the cards they give me a bit more information, or I see something in a different light and learn a little extra about their symbolism. When I started out reading Tarot I adhered very rigidly to the rules.
I have been made aware of two very differnt methods of Tarot Reading lately: One method uses no set spreads at all and the other has a very methodical, almost mathematical way of determining the meaning of the cards.
For myself, I need a middle way between these two extremes – a defined meaning for each card and a few set ways of laying them out. With a great deal of room to improvise and grow in between.
With practice, you will gain the confidence to experiment with different Tarot Spreads and determine your own unique way of working with the cards.
You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or a path, it is someone else’s path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else’s way, you are not going to realize your potential.” ~ Joseph Campbell

Best And Worst Tarot Readings
Posted by Gillian on 1 Apr 2010 | 2 comments | Filed in Tarot Readings I Have Had Best And WorstI have consulted Tarot readers many times in the past. Not so often nowadays, as I consult my own cards instead, on a regular basis. Its great to be able to do this. Here follow a few examples of the best and worst readings I have had.
Once, I was given a reading by a well known psychic, who said something to me, at which I must have pulled a bit of a face. He responded with; ‘I’m telling you this’ in a very authoritarian sort of tone, which put me off completely. What he foretold didn’t come to pass anyway!!
One of the best readings I ever had, was in Selby, North Yorkshire, UK. I went into the reader’s house and was struck by the piles of washing everywhere and that the place was down at heal to put it mildly. However, her reading was incredible and something I thought an impossibility at the time, turned out to be very true. So, as the old saying goes; ’you can’t judge a book by its cover’.
The most life changing reading I ever had, was given to me by my brother-in-law. He wasn’t a relative at the time of my reading, in fact my sister had only just met him. One thing that he said to me, amongst all the others, that really stuck home and has stayed with me ever since was: ‘Don’t be so negative’. He may not have used exactly those words, but he said it in such a way that I could take it on board. If it had been said in a very authoritarian way, you can be sure I would have disregarded it! He also said to me ‘You will be teaching people to live from the heart, as you do’. That’s lovely don’t you think and something I have endeavoured to do, ever since he said those words to me.
Those three readings and especially the last one, influence the way I give readings today.
Have you ever found that one small sentence or even a few words, can stand out a mile from all the other words that have been uttered and effect your life profoundly for good or for ill?

Relationship Questions – Ask The Tarot
Posted by Gillian on 30 Mar 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in relationship questions answered by the tarotSometimes in life, its difficult to figure out what is going on within a relationship. You don’t know quite how the other partner is feeling, can’t get to grips with what you are sensing yourself, you are unsure about where the relationship is heading and sometimes you are even wondering, if its for the best to stay together.
For, love and relationships have the potential to be one of the most fulfilling areas of our lives. Yet they can also be agonizing places, full of sadness and confusion.
This is where the Tarot can come in and be extremely helpful, as indeed I have found it to be in my own life.
Here are a few examples of questions that you can ask the Tarot.
These are only guidelines, you can of course ask your own questions, there is no need to follow these ideas rigidly:
Where is my relationship with (—) heading in the next (–) months?
How does (—) feel about me now?
What can be done to improve my relationship with (—)?
What is the greatest potential in this relationship?
What can I learn from what is happening in this relationship now?
Is it possible to have a long term committed relationship with (—)?
The Process
Since I began this site a few months ago, I have found that the best way for me to answer your questions, especially with love and relationship issues, is through an email tarot conversation.
How this works;
You ask the cards your questions and I email you the Tarot’s answers and then receive your feedback on what the cards have said to you. As I do this, further insights come to me and we discover together, what is going on within your relationship, where it is heading and the options open to you.
This process is almost like that of a face to face reading, with the added bonus, that you have the words and pictures to keep and refer to, any time you want.
When answering relationship questions I include, if appropriate, a relationship spread with the reading. This outlines the underlying dynamics within a relationship and can be very helpful and enlightening.
I work with the idea, that the future is one of endless possibility and that it is how you deal with the present, that determines your future.
It was a great relief, when a trusted spiritual teacher said to me, not so long ago: ‘You can transcend your Astrological Chart’.

Developing Your Intuition – Three Simple Exercises
Posted by Gillian on 20 Mar 2010 | 2 comments | Filed in Three simple exercises to help develop your intuition, UncategorizedHere follow three simple exercises to help you develop your intuition. These can be done on your own, without any expense or special preparation. As with everything in life, developing your intuition takes practice, so keep going even if nothing much seems to be happening to begin with.
Each individual has a unique way of receiving intuitive impressions, so see which way your intuition is speaking to you. Is it through a feeling, a hunch, a bodily sensation, an image, a knowing, or words that you hear in your head?
1) Imagine what will be in your post box when you open it each day. Guess the number of total items by asking yourself ’What mail do I have in my mail box today?’ Don’t attach any importance as to whether you are right or wrong. On a sheet of paper, note down in one column the number you come up with and then in another column, the amount of mail that actually arrives.
2) When your phone or mobile rings, imagine who it is before you answer it. Ask yourself ‘Who is calling me now?’ Again its useful to note down the results of this exercise, with a time and date too.
3) Have a pack of ordinary playing cards placed face down in front of you. Take one card from the pack and keeping it face down, close your eyes and imagine what colour it is, either red or black. Continue this process with the other cards in the pack and note down your answers.
When you have done this exercise for a while and achieved a measure of success, you can proceed to guessing the numbers on the cards. Again note down your answers and the numbers of the cards themselves, to see if some sort of pattern emerges and how you are progressing.
Have fun with developing your intuition, take these exercises lightly and do them often. You will soon begin to trust your hunches and feelings and discover that your intuition, is an invaluable asset in all aspects of daily life.

Tarot Cards – Improving A Relationship
Posted by Gillian on 9 Mar 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in Using the tarot to help heal a relationshipIn the above spread, I give an example of how I go about answering a question. I will go through the tarot cards with you to show how this works.
The question I was asked: ‘What can I do to improve my relationship with Simon?‘ This question comes from a reading that I gave recently, I’m using the spread with permission and the name has been changed.
The card on the bottom left signifies the current situation.
This card is the Hanged Man, which turns up regularly when I’m asked for a reading. Its often right at the centre of a general spread, or as in this position, the situation, in the five card spread.
This is an uncomfortable position to be in no matter how centred you are within yourself. Its all about uncertainty, waiting in limbo and suspension, waiting for things to move forward to some sort of conclusion and for some solidity and certainty to come into a situation. The uncertainty can make us anxious and unsure of ourselves, as matters and outcomes often seem to be in the hands of others and way beyond our influence and control. Its hardly any wonder then, that people ask for readings when they feel like this…
The card at the top right, the cause of the situation and in this spread its the Nine Of Pentacles the card that is associated with feeling successful and having made a success out of something. As though the pieces of the jigsaw have fitted together in a way that is pleasing and the outcome is satisfying – its about enjoying the fruits of achievement. The feeling of success and attainment.
In this spread this is the feeling and the desire and cause of the situation, a successful relationship, feeling a sense of fulfillment and the attainment of a successful relationship. This that has not yet been achieved, because its still up in the air, as signified by the current situation – the Hanged Man.
The Card of the top left is the point of interest and in this spread it is the World Card. This card is also associated with success. Building a success with all that the elements available in a given situation ie physical, mental, emotional and spiritual attributes, talents and experiences. Bringing all these together to create success.
So there is much positive content and potential in this particular relationship, which can be and is being used to build a strong and satisfying one.
Card on the bottom right, the way forward or advice card, in this case it is the Page of Swords. This is not a particularly comfortable card as it deals with the sense of being up against the world, as though things aren’t going quite right, which brings on feelings of anger, impatience and irritability. In a relationship this would be rubbing each other up the wrong way, loose tempers and tongues, getting angry before thinking things through.
So, as this card comes in the advice section and way forward, addressing these dynamics within the relationship, is the way to improve it. Seeking out ways to work through difficulties without resorting to anger, frustration and ill will. Finding out why one or both of the partners is getting angry and seeing what can be done about it. There may, for example, be outside pressures which make one of the partners give off stream to the other one. The underlying irritations need to be brought to the surface and addressed calmly. This is a young card, so much learning of maturity and wisdom is to be gained from doing the above.
The card at the top is the Outcome card, in this case the card is the King of Cups. This card signifies a man who is sociable and well rounded, at ease with himself and life in general. It also signifies a situation that has been resolved. The card has a general feeling of well being and satisfaction associated with it.
Conclusion
The whole reading augers well for improvement in the situation and for the attainment of the successful and well rounded relationship, that the Querent is seeking.
(I like to use a Fairy Healing Card, as part of the five card spread too, to give some positive healing advice from the Fairy Realm)
Fairy Healing Card
Miracle Healing
Your thoughts and prayers about the situation have been answered, give up struggling with your thoughts and getting twisted up with your emotions. Trust in the positive outcome that you so desire. Feel and know that the situation is being taken care of perfectly.
‘In truth everything and everyone including myself is healed right now. I focus on this truth instead of the illusion of fear’

Tarot Readings – Mirroring Our Lives
Posted by Gillian on 6 Mar 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in The Tarot holding a mirror up to our lives
Since I started this email tarot reading site I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with many wonderful people. It is a privilege to be able to give tarot readings and help people with the issues that they face in their lives.
One of the greatest things I feel that I can do with my readings, is give people insight into what is happening in their lives, which allows them greater freedom, to make enlightened choices.
Science, most especially Quantum Physics, is discovering what mystics have known for eons, that everything is connected. The rational and analytical way of perceiving the world that we have been taught for so long, is gradually being replaced by a new world view.
For myself, working with the Tarot teaches me about the connection between all things on a very practical level. When someone asks me for a reading, I connect with them through my intuition and through the physical medium of the cards. This connection is made instantly and works beyond time and space. It allows both me and the person asking for the reading, to touch and be touched by Divine Guidance / the Muse / Higher Self / Energy / the Ethers / Great Spirit / the Angels (whatever name you feel comfortable calling it).
The cards are like a mirror to what is going on in our lives, at given a point in time. The influences that have shaped us, including our thought patterns and emotional tendancies are depicted clearly in the cards. The cards also show where these tendancies will lead us. The exciting and empowering part of all this is, that if we don’t like what we see in the mirror of the Tarot, we can do something about it.
The teachings of The Law of Attraction, Abraham Hicks and many others, show us that how we think, feel and envisage in the present, influences how life will manifest for us in the future. Using the Tarot as a mirror to our present situation, we are given the insight and oppotunity, to be able to take the small steps and make the necessary changes, to create the giant leap into the future that we so desire.
The Tarot acts as a bridge between worlds, showing that we can be masters of our destiny, not just the victims of an unyielding fate. The more I work with the Tarot, the more in awe I become of it.

Intuition – Developing Your Intuition
Posted by Gillian on 28 Feb 2010 | 0 comment | Filed in A simple exercise to help develop your intuitionI had no idea I was intuitive, until in a dance class one day, the teacher said to me ‘You are the most intuitive member of this class’. I was quite shocked, it was something I’d never thought about. I knew that my mother was considered very intuitive, but this was made light of. My (then) husband could sniff the wind to find an address – pretty impressive I thought. My own intuition – I’d never even considered it.
So intuition has crept up on me so to speak and little by little more and more each day, I trust what it has to tell me. I would counsel you to do the same, listening to the hunch, the feeling, the knowing, the image; everyone has their own way to connect with their intuition. I love the idea of the still small voice. My mother says that if she doesn’t listen to that voice (which is often drowned out by much louder voices) things don’t turn out well for her.
I love to give email tarot readings to people, to help them on their way with issues and problems. Also, in creating this site, I want to encourage other people to develop their own innate skills, to learn to trust themselves and their intuitive powers. Otherwise other people, peer pressure, the media, religion, dogma and all those other outside authorities, hold the guiding reins of our lives.
So here’s a simple exercise.
I would like you to breathe deep as you look at this picture of the tarot card, The Star and see what impressions come to you. These impressions may come to you in the form of feelings, words, images, symbols or as a knowing. Write down what you receive. This will only take you a few minutes. You can post your impressions as a comment if you like. There are no wrong or right answers, only deeper levels of understanding.
I will do the same and post my impressions on the Intuitive Impressions page (see bar at top of page). Take a look at mine too, if you like.
Have fun developing your intuition……
